ZEUS WAS PLACED IN HIS NEW HOME ON JUNE 27TH 2023! HE HAS A POMERANIAN BROTHER AND A NICE NEW YARD TO EXPLORE! HERE IS A PICTURE OF HIS FOSTER MOTHER LINDA HANDING HIM OFF TO HIS NEW MOTHER AMY!

Meet Zeus!

Hi everyone. I am Zeus. I'm a 9 year old Blue Merle boy with one brown eye and one blue eye. I have spent my life as a stud for the lady Shelties. You would think that would make me outgoing! But no, I'm actually very shy and timid. In fact, my foster mother says I'm the least trusting of the fosters she has had. But she also says I'm the most beautiful! I guess that's kind of nice, right?

I know my name, but I am often too suspicious of humans to come to them. But I am learning that people are nice and friendly!

Since coming to NSR, I have learned how to go up and down stairs. (We didn't have those where I came from.) I have also learned how to go outside to go potty. I don't really know how to tell someone when I need to go but if I am let out often enough, I shouldn't have too many accidents. But be patient with me in a new environment!

I ride in a car well. And I don't fight over food. I am good at waiting my turn. I may be scared, but I try to cover it up and appear brave!

I love being petted and brushed! I do not know how to walk on a leash yet, but I no longer panic when one is put on me. I mostly love to just hang out and be near you or maybe be in the next room. If you become my person, it will probably take a while for me to warm up to you. Lots of cuddles will help!

I would like another dog to keep me company. Maybe one that is outgoing, but not terribly rowdy.

Fill out the online application and let the NSR people know you are interested in me!

Please note that Nebraska Sheltie Rescue requires that a placement home has a completely fenced yard in order to be considered. There are too many horrible stories about dogs getting out and having bad things happen. (For more on NSR's fence policy, see here.)

Adoption Application

If you are interested in adopting one of our Shelties—either an available one or one that may come in the future—please fill out our online application form. If you are interested in a particular dog, there is a place to enter the doggie's name. If you are interested in being considered for any of our dogs—either ones we don't have yet or because one you are interested in is no longer available—fill out an application anyway. We will try to let you know when new dogs that match your interest become available.

Adoption Contract

When people adopt a dog from Nebraska Sheltie Rescue, they are asked to sign our adoption contract. This is so we can feel comfortable that our dogs will be going to good homes, be safe, and treated well.

Even if you are not ready to adopt a dog yet, you can view this contract to find out and decide if this is something you are willing to do. (To be honest, if you really care about doggies, none of this will come as a surprise.)
