What fostering means...
A foster home is defined as a temporary home for the dog to live in while the dog is waiting for placement by NSR. The foster dog is owned by Nebraska Sheltie Rescue, and its care managed by Nebraska Sheltie Rescue.
What you do...
A foster home temporarily houses and cares for the foster dog(s) belonging to NSR. We are still the sole and rightful owner of the dog(s) and all decisions regarding this dog will be made by us.
You are responsible for feeding, caring for, and making sure the dog is given any required medication in a timely manner. You agree to treat this animal in a humane and loving way at all times, and to make sure that anyone temporarily caring for this dog will do the same. You will integrate this dog into your family, and make the dog feel part of the family.
You need to have a fenced yard (rescue pups are scared and flight risks).
Our vet is in Omaha and the dogs will have to get there for appointments. Transportation issues can be worked out.
You understand that this dog will be shown to prospective adopters and you are responsible for making sure the dog is groomed for all showings. We give at least 2 days notice prior to showings to allow time for this. Usually these meetings are at the adopoters' homes so you would not be hosting anyone. We will also be transporting the dog to these meetings.
If for any reason you are unable to continue to house and care for the dog, you will immediately notify and turn possession of this dog back over to Nebraska Sheltie Rescue.
What we do...
We supply food, veterinary care, and supplies that you need.
Steps to Take...
E-mail or message us on Facebook and tell us that you are interested in fostering a dog. We will set up a time to visit with you. It's that easy!
